Mihaela Nyerges

Managing Associate

With more than 15 years of impressive experience in mergers & acquisitions as well as corporate and commercial law, Mihaela is a senior member of the firm’s consultancy department. She has broad expertise in the development of complex investment projects in the energy field (with focus on renewable energy and cogenerated heat), as well as in the elaboration of regulations in the electricity trading and generation of power from renewable energy sources. Throughout her career, Mihaela assisted governmental authorities, publicly held companies as well as domestic and international private entities in a wide variety of legal matters. She is an experienced coordinator of multidisciplinary teams in complex projects, with important cross-border components.

  • the Romanian subsidiaries of a major Czech energy group, on various projects related to their activities in Romania;
  • an important European energy company, in connection with the project to partner a State-owned energy company in a Joint Venture for the modernization of the existing heat plant and construction of a new generation unit;
  • an association of energy producers and distributors, regarding the legislative amendment process of the Electricity and Natural Gas Law No. 123/2012 targeting the elimination of the prohibition to execute power purchase agreements through direct negotiations;
  • a national energy supply association, in relation to the creation of a new centralized trading platform for electricity wholesale (Centralized Market with Double Continuous Negotiation);
  • a major international energy company, in relation to its electricity and gas supply activities in Romania;
  • a leading European energy group in association with a local wind energy company, in relation to the amendment of Law No. 220/2008 on the establishment of the renewable energy generation promotion system as regards the extension of the temporary accreditations which expired due to the delays registered by the European Commission in granting the individual approvals;
